AutoHound vs. Tekmetric

A collision repair is more than a service estimate with a longer due date. AutoHound keeps changing scope, production dependencies, and insurer money connected from teardown to collection.

Why choose AutoHound

Choose AutoHound when collision repair drives your business. Keep your supported collision estimator, carry supplement approvals into a shared repair record, and keep production, parts, customer updates, and payer balances connected. Tekmetric emphasizes auto repair management, inspections, and service operations. AutoHound starts with the collision workflow your team lives every day.

Start with collision work

Tekmetric's public platform emphasizes digital inspections, estimate building, parts, payments, reporting, and multi-shop operations. Those capabilities do not, by themselves, describe how an insurer-funded collision repair changes after teardown.

AutoHound is built around that changing repair. The RO carries estimates, approvals, parts, production, messages, and payments, so each person can act without piecing together the history first. That is the reason to choose it for a collision-led shop.

Know what you are buying

You should be able to understand the price and the working relationship before speaking to sales. AutoHound publishes both, so you can spend your time deciding whether the collision workflow fits your shop.

  • Every product feature included. The shop subscription has no feature tiers to unlock.
  • Unlimited users. Give each staff member their own access without adding a per-user AutoHound charge.
  • Month-to-month. No long-term software contract. Stay because AutoHound works for your shop.
  • Your shop data stays yours. We never sell your shop data or share it for third-party advertising. Use the built-in export tools while your account is active. Read our data commitments.
  • Public pricing. No sales call required. The shop plan is $599 per location per month. Read the price and start a private demo on your own schedule. Prefer a conversation or guided walkthrough? We are always happy to talk with shops.

No setup fee, with four onboarding consultation hours included. Your estimating subscription remains separate, and a requested custom historical migration is scoped and quoted separately.

Keep writing. Stop rekeying

Keep CCC ONE, Mitchell, Audatex, or AdjustRite for estimating. AutoHound's Windows connector picks up supported estimate and supplement files, while the RO retains earlier versions and the source record.

Tekmetric describes labor guides, reusable jobs, pricing tools, and digital approvals in its estimate-building workflow. Building a service estimate is a different task from bringing your collision estimator's changing scope into shop management. AutoHound gives that supported file handoff a defined place in the repair process.

See what can move next

Illustrative workflow with sample shop data, not customer results.

RO-1008 is on Parts Hold for a backordered bracket. Another repair is away for sublet work. A rush job is in Paint with its promise at risk. In the sample board below, the production manager can distinguish all three before assigning the next move.

The parts desk follows the missing item on its order. The advisor follows the off-site work and customer update. The technician finds assigned repairs in My Work. AutoHound carries the same repair context through those different tasks instead of reducing the day to a list of service estimates.

Separate approval from collection

A customer approving a service is not the same as an insurer answering a supplement. AutoHound keeps supplement outcomes and follow-up with the repair, and keeps customer and insurer responsibilities separate.

When a partial insurer payment arrives, the office can identify what remains instead of treating the job as simply paid or unpaid. When optional Materials is enabled, sent materials invoices also feed insurer receivables. An amount requested or billed is never presented as cash already received.

Keep the money in the workflow. Follow vendor credits, unpaid insurer balances, and optional materials invoices. For a total loss, keep storage, teardown, towing, and other billable fees with the file. AutoHound helps document the amount and the next follow-up; it does not guarantee payment. See total-loss fee tracking.

Keep the bookkeeper connected

Send customers, invoices, and recorded payments directly from AutoHound to QuickBooks Online, on demand or on a schedule. Keep the repair record in AutoHound and the books in the accounting system your bookkeeper uses.

Tekmetric documents an accounting connection through The Back Office's Accounting Link. AutoHound's own QBO workflow makes the accounting handoff part of the same connected collision process. Posted-invoice corrections still need deliberate bookkeeping; AutoHound identifies changes to posted materials invoices for review.

Give every person a clear record

Include advisors, estimators, technicians, and parts staff without adding AutoHound seats to the bill. Team chat, vendor texts, and customer updates help those people stay connected to the work.

Optional Shift Time records clock-ins, breaks, and clock-outs. Staff request corrections; authorized managers review, approve, and lock the period before exporting hours. Repair-job timers remain separate and are never compared with shift hours. Payroll processing stays with your provider.

Start with a workable plan

Start with your collision estimating connection and a working repair, then bring the team into the daily handoffs.

  1. Keep the right connections. Confirm your supported estimator, QBO setup, and any required interfaces.
  2. Prepare active work. Identify open repairs, orders, balances, and documents. Agree who brings them forward and checks the totals; scope historical migration separately.
  3. Set up the essentials. Use the guided checklist for shop details, roles, stages, templates, the estimating connection, and capacity.
  4. Rehearse a handoff. Have the advisor, parts person, technician, and bookkeeper follow one repair before your chosen cutover.

Four onboarding consultation hours are included. AutoHound's team brings experience in collision repair, automotive refinish, and OEM software. See the switching plan or meet the people behind AutoHound.
